Last year’s concert was an incredible event and I’ll never forget how great it felt to have everyone that attended celebrating the recording of my first Delta Blues live record. I have been busy writing my second record called Jook and will be debuting songs from that as well as from Preachin from Down Low and classic Delta Blues from Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and Elmore James.
The second half will again be a celebration of music with many special guest appearing and proceeds going to pay for students to attend YRDSB’s Arts Camp. Last Year thanks to your amazing support we paid for three students to go to camp in honor of my great friend and mentor Marion Ahrens. I would love it if you can come to this year’s event. The temple sound and atmosphere are incredible.
Much love all
Saturday night was a special night for those who attended the Old Town Hall Theatre in Newmarket. We were all treated to an amazing and soulful performance by Glenn Marais and a collection of his talented friends.
This was a special night for Glenn as he proudly celebrated the release of two brand new CDs. One titled Preachin’ From Down Low, that is a live recording that Glenn made in October 2016, and is a musical journey of the amazing Delta Blues. The second is called The Mojo Train and showcases The Glenn Marais Band and their funky R&B, rockin blues sound. Both CDs are great and not only show Glenn’s passion for music but his amazing diverse talent. He is a Juno nominated singer/guitarist who oozes positivity and creativity.
On Saturday night, he provided us with a really unique show, and I dare say presentation on black history with an account of the struggles of African Americans in our past. And Glenn really educated us on how this affected and shaped some of the music of the past. The delta blues, rich with soul and tradition. And Marais, supported by a large group of amazing talented artists did a great job of delivering this sound and feel to us all through their songs. The members of the Glenn Marais Band filled in the rich sound and some excellent backing vocals from Bernadette Connors and Karin Simpson made the music even sweeter. That was the first half of the show.

Recently, my husband and I had the pleasure of having The Glenn Marais Band play at our wedding. We cannot say enough about the talent, skill and dedication of this wonderful group.
In preparation for the event, Glenn was timely and flexible in working with us to plan the set list. The music was a great mix of contemporary music and the classics, and included tunes for all ages. He helped us plan for the music and timing of the ceremony and reception, and he listened to and accommodated our needs. It was clear to us that he was committed to helping make this event a special one.
On the day of the wedding, Glenn and his band were professional, unobtrusive and very helpful with set up. Their music added just the right ambiance to the cocktail hour. After dinner, they got our guests up and dancing through the evening reception. It was truly a pleasure to see our guests having such a great time.
Months after the event, friends and family still comment on how exceptional the band was. They were a highlight of the event, and we would highly recommend them for any social or corporate event.
